Alessio Fanelli
645 Ventures
Vice President
Alessio is a Vice President at 645 Ventures, an early-stage venture capital fund with more than $200M under management. At the firm, he leads the in-house engineering team, as well as their investment focus on infrastructure software, developer tools, and security. Their portfolio companies include Cube Dev (Open source data platform), Launchable (Founded by the creator of Jenkins), DeepSource, BigEye, Panther Labs, and more. Alessio previously founded Smart Torvy, an open source and open hardware home automation company, where he first learned about open source business models. He created a framework to think about it, focused on the "Discover, Build, Deploy, Scale" cycle and how the "Monetization Helix" drives the willingness to pay for customers. He previously gave a talk about it at Open Source 101 (https://github.com/FanaHOVA/monetizing-oss-slides).
