Product-market fit is a term used in the business world to describe when a product’s features and attributes are in alignment with the needs of the market it’s in, usually resulting in rapid growth in adoption. In this panel, panelists will discuss how the idea of aligning what your software does with the needs of a particular market is important to open source projects as well, and can help open source projects grow rapidly while building a sustainable community. Panelists with different perspectives on the open source ecosystem will explore how maintainers can learn from the principles of product-market fit and techniques used to find it and apply the lessons to their own open source projects to improve “project-market” fit, drive community growth, and contribute to a robust community of users and contributors.
