It is easier for contributors to collaborate on closed source projects because of alignment in their company’s goals and priorities. On the other hand, open source projects always find it harder to reach consensus because of competing goals and priorities from multiple companies and diverse contributors. In this session, we will explore how we are working on open source projects as one team across different companies. We will strive to answer: - How do open source contributors effectively collaborate on a project? - How do we resolve conflicts? How do different cultures influence the culture of the open source project? - What is the role of the community in creating alignment between companies? - How do we welcome new contributors and motivate existing contributors? In the end, we will learn strategies for effective open source collaboration across organizations to build successful projects with thriving communities.
